Environmental information systems
The EUNIS habitat classification is the most comprehensive pan-European system for habitat identification. The classification is hierarchical and covers all types of habitats from natural to artificial, from terrestrial to freshwater and marine. There are crosslinks to other typologies. The 2021/2022 version of the revised classification cover all groups except for inland waters (group P) and habitat complexes (Z). More information and the data in excel format is available here.
